Why it matters
The shift to AI isn't a future problem. It's already happening.
When a renter asks an AI assistant for apartment recommendations, they don't get a page of links to scroll through. They get a short answer naming a handful of properties, and nothing else. Either you're in the answer, or you're not.
What are the best apartments near me for under $2,000?

Google, Sep 2026of consumers now use ChatGPT and other AI tools for local recommendations. AI is now the third most popular source of local recommendations, behind Google and Facebook.
BrightLocal, Local Consumer Review Survey, Feb 2026Why now
A handful of names. That's the whole answer.
1990s
The classified page
Renters scanned columns of listings. A line of type and a phone number got you found.
2000s
The search results
Renters scrolled ten blue links, then page two. Rank on page one and you got the click.
Today
The AI answer
Renters ask one question and get one answer, naming a handful of properties. There is no page two.
In our own measurements, an AI answer to a renter's question names a handful of properties: about three in Google's AI answers, four or five in Gemini, about six in ChatGPT and about eight in Claude. A property that isn't one of them is invisible to that renter.
Where AI gets its facts
Your website is one source among many.
The AI engines lean on listing sites and other communities' pages far more than on any one property's website, so across the apartment communities we measure, a community's own website is a small share of everything they cite. But when ChatGPT or Google's AI answers name a community, they cite that community's own website in about half of those answers.
Listing sites now live inside the AI assistants too: renters can search Apartments.com without leaving ChatGPT or Gemini.

How it works
Visibility you can't see is opportunity you can't capture.
We ask the questions your renters ask
The kinds of questions renters really ask AI, from where to live to what a property offers, plus fact checks on your pricing and policies and head-to-head comparisons, on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode.
We measure exactly where you stand
Every answer is recorded and read: were you named, how prominently, and which sources the AI leaned on to describe you. Every property in your market is measured the same way, on the same questions.
We tell you what to fix, in order of impact
Your recommendations are ranked by what will move the needle most, assigned to the team that owns each one, and written in plain language. No AI jargon required.
A renter who never sees your name never tours your property. HaloScore turns AI visibility from a vague worry into a number you can track, a rank you can move, and a checklist you can act on, so more renters discover you, more of them tour, and more of them sign.
